Regent Engineering Strengthens Aerospace and Defence Ambitions with Midlands Aerospace Alliance Membership

Regent Engineering Co (Walsall) Ltd has joined the Midlands Aerospace Alliance (MAA), marking another important step in the company’s strategy to expand its presence within the aerospace and defence sectors.

The Darlaston-based manufacturer, which has been serving British industry since 1941, sees membership of the region’s leading aerospace trade organisation as an opportunity to strengthen relationships across the sector while showcasing its extensive manufacturing capabilities to aerospace OEMs and Tier One suppliers.

The Midlands Aerospace Alliance represents one of Europe’s largest aerospace clusters, bringing together manufacturers, technology providers, universities and supply chain partners to support growth, innovation and competitiveness across the industry.

For Regent Engineering, the move reflects growing confidence in its ability to support aerospace and defence programmes through a combination of high-volume presswork, robotic welding, large-scale fabrication and specialist engineered assemblies.

Managing Director Stuart Whitehouse believes the company’s manufacturing capabilities align strongly with the requirements of both aerospace and defence customers seeking resilient UK supply chains.

“The Midlands Aerospace Alliance is a highly respected organisation that plays an important role in connecting manufacturers across one of the UK’s most important industrial sectors,” said Whitehouse.

“We are delighted to become members and look forward to engaging with businesses throughout the aerospace supply chain. As a company with more than 80 years of manufacturing heritage, we believe we have a great deal to offer in terms of engineering expertise, production capacity and responsiveness.”

Regent Engineering operates from its manufacturing facility in the West Midlands, where it provides precision pressings, welded assemblies and fabricated products to customers across a range of demanding sectors.

Its capabilities include a 700-tonne press line, robotic welding cells, CNC machining, fabrication and assembly services, supported by in-house tooling expertise and quality systems designed to meet the requirements of highly regulated industries.

The company has also established a growing presence within defence markets through its FloorStak® rapid-deployment flooring and levelling system, which has been used globally in military, humanitarian and emergency response applications. The system provides robust foundations for temporary structures including field hospitals, accommodation units and operational facilities in challenging environments.

Whitehouse believes increased defence spending and renewed focus on sovereign manufacturing capability are creating significant opportunities for British manufacturers capable of delivering quality, flexibility and resilience.

“We are seeing growing recognition of the importance of strong domestic supply chains, particularly within aerospace and defence,” he said.

“Customers want suppliers that can offer technical capability, manufacturing expertise and dependable delivery. Our investment in equipment, people and processes means we are well positioned to support those requirements.

“Joining the Midlands Aerospace Alliance gives us the opportunity to collaborate with other forward-thinking manufacturers, understand emerging industry challenges and demonstrate the value that a long-established British engineering business can bring to major programmes.”

The announcement comes at a time when both the aerospace and defence sectors are experiencing renewed momentum, driven by increased aircraft production rates, investment in advanced manufacturing technologies and significant government commitments to defence spending.

For Regent Engineering, membership of the Midlands Aerospace Alliance represents not only a valuable networking opportunity but also a platform to support its long-term ambition of becoming a trusted manufacturing partner to aerospace and defence customers throughout the UK and beyond.

As the company enters a new chapter under Whitehouse’s leadership, the focus remains on combining traditional engineering excellence with modern manufacturing capability to support some of the world’s most demanding industries.
