FloorStak in Finland

April 19, 2013

The Regent on-site team have just returned back to the UK after successfully completing a FloorStak installation at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki. Regent have supplied a floor support and levelling system for the hospitality tents outside the arena which will be one of the two locations at which the 2013 World Ice Hockey Championship Finals will take place in May.

FloorStak was identified by installation contractors Kataja Event Oy of Jarvenpaa, as a solution to some potential barriers to installing a level floor. The main problem with the installation site was the 1 in 20 gradient from the top of the site to the bottom. As well as the longitudinal slope, the floor also needed to be levelled in the lateral axis because of height variations from side to side of up to 70mm. The versatile FloorStak system allowed Kataja to split their 80 x 20 metre tent into 4 sections over the length of the site, with each section of the FloorStak set at a different height to cope with the gradient. FloorStak also solved the problem of the lateral height differences.

The Regent on-site team helped to assist and guide Kataja staff with the installation which commenced on Monday 8th April. The FloorStak system was erected quickly and efficiently, with over 70% of the floor completed by the end of day 2. This enabled the tent riggers to start erecting the structure very quickly after the first section of level flooring was laid.

Further Scandinavian and European contracts are expected in the near future, and Regent is shortly expecting to announce a long-term distribution agreement for the Finnish and Estonian territories.

FloorStak chosen by Showplace UK for Derby Ice-Rink.

The Ice Rink base awaiting ice

Following close co-operation between Regent and Event organiser Showplace UK of Stratford upon Avon, FloorStak has been used for the first time as the support and levelling structure for the annual Derby Ice Rink facility. Situated on Market Place right in the centre of Derby City, the Ice Rink has become a really popular local attraction in recent years.

The paved market area has a gradual overall slope from corner to corner of around 750mm, but it presented no problem for FloorStak, which is able to provide a fine adjustment range from 160mm up to 2Metres where needed.

Showplace Director Rob Goodman said,

“Our new FloorStack legs have enabled us to use our cassette flooring from our Moda structures as the base to the Ice rink for the first time, the packing& levelling of our beams has been made very easy through the new equipment from Regent.”

Derby Ice Rink opened on Saturday 1 December and will run to Sunday 6 January 2013.

Showman’s Show 2012

October 26, 2012

Over the 17th and 18th of October, Regent exhibited the FloorStak system at the 2012 Showman’s Show at Newbury. Exhibiting alongside UK distributer Tectonics allowed Regent to display a fully erected FloorStak system, at 1.2 meters nominal height, incorporating the newest Tectonics multispan marquee. This gave visitors the chance to witness the FloorStak in a real life situation. Over the course of the two days, the show provided a great opportunity to showcase FloorStak and discuss possible projects with potential new clients.  Regent have now exhibited at the Showman’s Show for two years and interest in FloorStak continues to grow.

The next 2 exhibitions for FloorStak will be taking place in Germany, from the 14th to the 17th of November. Both of these exhibitions are in-house events being organised by major european marquee manufacturers, Roder HTS Hocker in Waechtersbach and Eschenbach-Zeltbau in Konigshofen.

Q.How do you think your apprenticeship will benefit you?
A: I will acquire new skills and knowledge in an engineering environment; this coupled with gaining greater confidence will allow me to become an important member of the team.

Q.What particular part of your job have you enjoyed the most so far?
A: I really enjoy turning operations on the lathe.

Q:Do you enjoy your work at college and how is it benefiting you?
A:I’m learning new skills, but I’m also being introduced to new subjects like health at safety. At the end of the course I will have gained a level 2 certificate.

Durma Hydraulic Press

Our latest investment increases and enhances our metal forming capabilities. The 300 tonne Durma Hydraulic Press Brake (pictured) has been installed specifically for the channel-forming of Mild Steel Sections, aimed at the Locks and Security Products industry. With an overall bed length of 3000mm and a stroke adjustment range of 245 mm, we now have sufficient capacity to undertake new projects which may require this versatile resource.

New Robotic Welding Cell

May 17, 2012

We have now fully installed our new robotic welding cell. The model is a Fanuc Robotic Arc Mate 100i with RJ3 controller. It was supplied to us by Fraser Ried of Cyber Weld who are based in Banbury.  This new robot will increase our overall capacity and allow us to support our existing commitments to our customers. It also increases our technical welding capability.
